This newsletter contains a lot of information, please take the time to read it before departure. I have included some travel prepardness tips and guidance as well as a reminder of some outstanding items from previous communications.
 

Pre-Departure Reminders and Actions

Health & Safety Briefings.

Review the pre-trip health and safety briefings if you did not attend as a reminder of what to pack and what to expect. Go to the group page and look at FILES to see the documents.

Singapore Arrival Card - ACTION
You must complete the Singapore Arrival Card within 3 days of departure. It only takes 5 minues. https://eservices.ica.gov.sg/sgarrivalcard/

Travel Documents
Make sure you pack your travel documents, and we advise you have a digital copy of important documents in an easy to access place, e.g. saved on your phone.  
  • Since February 2023 it has not been necessary to wear face masks or show vaccination status for COVID19 in Singapore.
Itinerary
Itineraries have been shared with all students, look at IBConnect Events and/or the Worldstrides app to see your itinerary and register for events.

Clocks Change on Sunday!
Note that clocks change in the UK this Sunday 27 March, making sunrise and sunset 1 hour later. If you are arranging any meetings across timezones next week, you can use this handy calculator to work out the timezones including the daylight savings change. https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/meeting.html

Download these Apps:
  • IBConnect
  • Microsoft Authenticator - this will allow you to verify you MS Account using a code or biometrics instead of text/call. Must have if you plan to get a local sim card/e-sim. 
  • Grab Taxi (the equivalent of Uber in Singapore)
  • Explore MRT - https://exploresg.com/mrt/ this is for the public transport system (you will be provided with public transport cards)
  • Chope - https://www.chope.co/. Restaurant booking app.
Airport Transfers
We will arrange group transfers for group arrivals on 25 and 26 March, further information and instructions to follow.  

Cultural Activites
Sign up for cultural activities no later than Thursday 23 March!

What to do in an emergency

Somaya is arriving on 23 March, she can be reached by phone, IBConnect, Teams, Whatsapp and should be contacted in the event of pre-trip emergency.

During the module we have members of the programme team who will join you for your company visits as well as members of Omnia Discovery or Worldstrides as guides. Their contact details will be provided during our welcome briefing. 

If you miss your flight, please book on the next available flight to Singapore and notify Somaya.

We have one date for all three modules so I'm looking for representative(s) from each module. A lead will be assigned so you can plan content, but we will be looking for

Student Company Visit Hosts

We are looking for students to act as IB hosts during our company visits and for panel sessions. This is a great opportunity to grow your network by creating connections and visibility with senior executives in Singapore.

As student host:
• We expect you to be the Master of Ceremonies (MC) for the session
• Arrive to the venue promptly to greet our local speaker(s), thank them for hosting us at their facilities/taking the time to speak to us, and introduce yourself as an IB ambassador
• Introduce the speaker(s) and company to the cohort (we will provide bios)
• Kick off the Q&A session with some of your own pre-prepared questions and facilitate the Q&A with the wider group.
• Provide the speaker with our IB branded thank you gift (we will provide this)
