Welcome to Rio!! We hope you have had a chance to settle and explore the city, catch up with your classmates and perhaps made friends with cohorts old and new. Tomorrow we will begin the official programming.
Itinerary Reminders
- Meet in the lobby at 07:45am for 08:00am departure to FGV.
- Breakfast at the hotel starts at 06:30 and if you like omelettes it’s best to get there early before the queues start.The lifts can be slow so if you have a later breakfast, be prepared to leave directly from the breakfast space down to the lobby.
- There are 3 buses and we cannot wait for latecomers, if you miss the bus, take an Uber to the visit and notify Somaya via IBConnect chat or WhatsApp so we can wait at the entrance to help you pass through security at FGV
Morning session logistics
- Dress code: Business casual (no shorts, no crop tops, no sports shirts, no flip flops)
- We will take attendance on the bus, please have your QR codes ready.
- Reminder to bring a photo of your passport which we will use to pass through security at FGV, we have pre-checked students who have provided us their passport details through the registration form.
The following students, who have not provided us passport information, must travel on the first bus as check-in at FGV will be a little longer

Afternoon Visits & Welcome Dinner
After lunch we will hear from 2x speakers at the hotel meeting space and expect the day to finish around 15:30. Then you have free time to go to the beach, nap, watch the sunset or all the above until we depart for dinner at 19:00.

Optional Cultural Activities deadline to sign up is 1PM
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we plan to offer additional optional cultural activities at cost. These will require self-registration and payment will be taken in GBP + transaction fee via IBConnect. Options will be visible today, and sign up opens from Tuesday 18 April until Monday 24 April.
- Tuesday 25 April: Option 1 = Ferris Wheel, Option 2 = Museum of Tomorrow
- Wednesday 26 April : Option 1 = Live Samba show, Option 2 = Ferris Wheel
- Thursday 27 April: Optioon 1 = Maracana stadium (per above), Option 2 = Catamaran Tour , Option 3 = Museum of Tomorrow
- Thursday 27 April: Evening option = Live Samba show (can be combined with daytime option)
Cultural activities that do not have sign up will be cancelled so if you're interested, please register ASAP.
