Hej - Hei - Hey!

Just a few more sleeps until we all meet in Copenhagen for the 2023 Nordics Global Experience Week, and I hope everyone is already buzzing.

By now, everyone should be set for the itinerary on IB Connect along with their travel plans, but included in this newsletter is some important information you'll need once you land in Copenhagen. Please take some time to read through and send any questions you have to me at t.mager@imperial.ac.uk.

Really looking forward to meeting everyone, getting stuck into the company meetings for the ewek, and, naturally, enjoying some cardamom buns (apparently Juno is the authority for any interested parties.)

Travel Preparedness

Documents

Make sure to carry on any travel documents including your visa, flights, and pertinent hotel information where required. We advise you have a digital copy of important documents in an easy to access place, e.g. saved on your phone or printed out.

Packing

Weather in Copenhagen is largely expected to be sunny with highs of 25 and lows of 11. Weather in Helsinki is expected to be largely the same with highs of 23 and lows of 11. We advise you keep an eye on the weather in the cming days and pack for all eventualities! 

Business meetings throughout the week will be business casual (trousers, business-appropriate shirts). Please avoice wearing trainers for these meetings.

For the ARC meeting on Monday, 26 June, you will be required to wear long slacks and closed-toe-shoes to enter; those dressed otherwise will not be allowed to enter. 

Airport Transfers

In Copenhagen, we are staying at the Scandic CPH Strandpark, which is a short walk (~15 minutes) from the airport. You are welcome to take a taxi and expense the cost back to Imperial College. The main taxi rank is at Terminal 3 at CPH and is clearly marked, close to the exit from the arrivals hall.

Insurance

Imperial will provide travel insurance for the duration of the programme (24 June - 2 July), but you will need to purchase your own insurance if you are in-country outside of those dates.

Apps

• IB Connect
• Microsoft Authenticator - this will allow you to verify your ICL MS Account using a code or biometrics insteda of a text/call. A must-have if you plan to get a local sim card or e-sim.

What to do in an emergency

I (Travis) and the IB team are arriving to Copenhagen from 22 June around midday and can be reached by phone, IBConnect chat, Teams and WhatsApp. Please contact me in the event of pre-trip emergency.

If you miss your flight, please book onto the next available flight to Copenhagen and notify Travis.
