Please note that we will be taking attendance throughout the week. As it is an overseas module, you are expected to achieve 100% attendance.

For excused absences you will still need to submit MCs to the Management/IEM Programme Team:

  • If you are ill, please let the Programme Team know as soon as your symptoms start so that we can support you.
  • If you have any travel complications, please let the Programme Team know as soon as possible.
  • If you have an interview that clashes with a session, please let the programme team know in advance, and provide evidence of your invite to interview. If you miss several elements of the Global Immersion due to interviews, the Programme Team reserve the right to adjust your attendance grade accordingly

Students who do not meet the attendance requirement may be:

  • Be asked to pay for remaining 70% of module fees (usually £1200+)
  • Be unable to continue with this module as one of their assessed electives i.e. they will not be entered for the exam
  • Be required to choose an alternative summer elective (subject to availability)

Sustainability efforts

As part of your overseas module, we are taking steps to align with Imperial’s sustainability efforts.

This includes working with suppliers that have existing sustainability policies, using public transportation in-country where possible, and not providing any single-use plastic on trips. For your own planning, please bring a reusable water bottle on the trip.

Carbon offsetting

We are also continuing our partnership with Profs Who Fly, an Imperial initiative begun by Professor Jem Woods in the Faculty of Natural Sciences. This carbon offsetting initiative is part of our sustainability suite of activities to encourage responsible travel.

Profs Who Fly supports the Neno Macadamia Trust (NMT), an agroforestry charity that enhances agricultural resilience in Malawi through improved income and the provision of a nutritious crop (macadamia nuts) which is available when conventional crops are not and is more resilient to drought.

Consider carbon offsetting your travel by using their Carbon Cost Calculator. You can make payment directly via this tool.

If you do carbon offset, please let us know!

Next Steps

  • Confirmation of Business Challege Allocation
  • Introduction of University of Ghana Business School students allocated to each group. Please add them to your team communication channels
  • Teams to confirm their communications lead.
  • Pre-departure email to be shared!
