Daily Update 2: Welcome to Singapore!

 

Dear Students,

Welcome to Singapore!

We are looking forward to seeing you at the Welcome Dinner at Empress this evening. 

As promised, here is your second instalment of the daily update posts - please read the below information carefully.

IMPORTANT

You will need to bring your physical passport with you for the visit to Thales in order to comply with their security procedures. Photos or scanned copies will not be accepted, however, we recommend having a photo/scan of your passport on your phone as you may require this throughout the week.

MRT Cards
We will start giving out your MRT cards at the welcome dinner this evening. The MRT is the public transport system in Singapore (like the Tube in London). If you are unable to attend the welcome dinner this evening, we will give you the MRT card in the lobby tomorrow morning.

Monday 24 March Important Times and Locations

  • Breakfast will be served in the J65 Restaurant from 06:30 (level one opposite reception). Please aim to be finished with breakfast by 08:45 to depart for the first session. 
  • 08:45 Depart for the first visit via public transport: Please be in the lobby for 08:45, we will depart together via public transport (bring your MRT cards - or arrive early to collect it). Please arrive promptly.
    • The location of the first session is Level 49, The Executive Centre Auditorium One Raffles Quay, 1 Raffles Quay, Singapore, 048583.
  • 09:40 Introduction to the module from Omnia & Imperial: Jake Cohen - Founder of Omnia Discovery and Ollie Waite - Imperial Trip Lead will introduce the module.
  • 10:15 Accenture - Doing Business in Singapore: Carlos Aggio, Managing Director - Data and AI Southeast Asia will lead this session.
  • 11:30 Free time for lunch: You will have free time for lunch at Lau Pa Sat, a Hawker Centre with lots of different food options. 
  • 12:45 Coaches depart for Thales:  We will travel via coach from Lau Pa Sat to Thales for the first afternoon session. We will communicate the meeting point for coach departure on the ground. 
  • 13:30 Thales visit: You will need your physical passport with you in order to comply with the security procedures. Please note that latecomers will NOT be accepted to this visit.
    • The location of the Thales visit is Gate 1, 12 Ayer Rajah Crescent, 139941.
  • 15:30 Coaches depart for Nvidia: We will travel via coach to the final session of the day at Nvidia.
  • 16:00 Nvidia: Dr. Tiomothy Liu, Solutions Architect at Nvidia will lead this session.
    • The location of the Nvidia session is 126 Beach Road, Guoco Midtown Network Hub, Singapore, 189772.
  • 17:15 Coaches depart back to the hotel: you will have the rest of the evening at your leisure.

Reminders

  • Please be fully ready for the day and to leave when you come down to breakfast. You should not be going back up to your rooms after breakfast.
  • The coaches will depart at the advertised time. If you miss the coach, you will need to make your own way to the relevant venue.
