What visa will I require for the trip?
It is the student's responsibility to research and apply for the appropriate visa to enter the global module you wish to join.
Generally speaking, the purpose of visit is "educational tourism" and usually the "tourist" visa is appropriate for this, please check as there are different entry requirements for different passport holders.
We recommend submitting only the documentation requested by the visa agent for your application. We will aim to provide hotel confirmation letters typically requested for tourist visa applications to students who require it. If you require a letter to confirm you're an Imperial student, this can be generated from my.imperial.ac.uk.
Where can I get financial support?
It's important to budget carefully for your global module, please refer to the FAQ's in the application section to learn more about this.
If you find you are under financial hardship, you may be able to get a reduction in your student contribution fee by applying for the "Student Life Experience Fund".
I would like a single room during my stay, how do I arrange this?
We will book twin-room accommodation as standard, and you will be able to select your roommate in a separate form after you are allocated to the module and the class list is finalised. There are limited spaces for single rooms.
We will hold 10x single rooms for each module which will be available to purchase at an additional fee through IBConnect when you are allocated onto the module. These are first come, first serve.
I would like to book additional nights before or after the module, how do I arrange this?
Please contact the hotel directly, or through a hotel booking platform such as booking.com to make this reservation. As this will be separate to our group block booking at the hotel, you may be asked to change rooms for the module booking.
My passport is invalid, what should I do?
If your passport is out of date, or has less than 6 months validity at the time of travel, you will need to renew your passport. This can be a somewhat lengthy process so we recommend checking validity of your passport for travel as soon as possible.
When can I book my flight?
Please wait until you are confirmed on the module before you book your flight. If you require a visa for the destination of travel, you will be required to submit your flight booking as confirmation of entry and exit of the country. If you think there is a possibility you may not obtain your visa, we recommend booking a flight that can be refunded - this is usually more expensive than the cheapest flight options.
Student Code of Conduct
You will be representing Imperial while overseas, so please continue to follow the Imperial Student Code of Conduct while travelling.
