Who is responsible for obtaining the visa for the exchange program?

Please be aware that you will be responsible for obtaining your own visa. Unfortunately, we have no influence over timescales, so we advise initiating this process as soon as your place is confirmed. Visa applications can often have lengthy processing durations, and starting early ensures the best chance for a successful exchange.

Is there any financial assistance available for the exchange program?

Yes! We aim to provide equal opportunities for outgoing exchange students. The good news is there's no extra tuition fees for our exchange programmes. But, students will need to handle things like food, travel visas, and accommodation. However, there is financial help available for those who are eligible. This way, everyone can enjoy the experience of studying abroad, no matter what their financial situation is.

Attend an exchange briefing to learn about opportunities with our partner schools

Apply for a partner school through our internal nomination process by the nomination deadline

We will submit your details to the partner school, you will be asked to enrol to their school

Apply for a student visa in the country of study, if needed

Where available, select your electives at the partner school

Undertake exchange and complete modules at your host institution!

Provide Imperial feedback on your exchange

Return to Imperial to complete remaining modules for your degree

Receive transcript from exchange partner
